“And then there is the most dangerous risk of all -- the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.”

ABOUT US

Lisa

Travel writer

While I adore world-class diving or a big hike to an epic spot, I equally cherish riding my DR650 in gravel. As an advocate for female riders in one of the fastest growing markets, I’m not the most natural rider; living proof that you can pass your test, jump in the saddle and go. Anywhere, near or far—it’s very empowering. For me, being outdoors appeals as much as writing about it where White Rhino (our 4WD) currently paves the way for both. Like Jason, I need an affecting outlet and gratefully, help to keep the gas in the tank through my word-craft. In addition to free-lancing with tales from the trails, I dabble in overland journalism. On top, review outdoor product as full-time users in the field, which complements the brand ambassadorships, kit sponsorships and paid collaborations.

Jason

Photographer/Filmmaker/
Commercial Drone Pilot

Jason loves all things adventure travel. The challenge of journeying off-road to arrive somewhere that really only the time-rich can afford to find is thrilling for him. After a long stretch on the road, throwing his sleeping bag on the ground next to a campfire is the ideal end to a perfect, unplanned day. Ultimately, amid the wild places left in the world. With an infatuation for big open spaces and chasing light comes the natural pursuit of photography, which has been an insatiable passion since the age of 14. As his globally published portfolio in adventure travel, landscape, wildlife and underwater photography evolves, Jason is a also a drone pilot and a videographer.

WHAT WE DO

Living out our adventures side by side and exploring the world on our own terms.

Known as Four Wheeled Nomad by our 4WD audience and Two Wheeled Nomad by others in the motorcycle overland arena, we are a British couple motivated by travel—as much as the perpetual wonder if there’s enough lifetime left. Our combined expertise lies in writing; social media and brand building; photography; filmmaking and capturing unique drone footage.

While Jason’s driving force has always been photography, for him, shooting from the heart means having a bigger purpose outside of travel. It’s not just about preserving the big or fleeting moments forever and making an impression. It’s about the challenge of forever pushing the boundaries of creativity while being in the dramatic environments he loves, and noticing something in an alternatively beautiful way. Capturing unseen realities. It lets him connect with what he’s viewing, to intimately see it and then convey it with meaning. Essentially, bringing the viewer on location with us in still frames.

Telling a story about a place, a subject or an experience from behind the lens through adventurous travel involves me having to trust Jason. Often implicitly, especially in dicey situations to get the shot, unforgiving weather intersecting our route, and long, painstaking days waiting for the sun to break through the clouds. It can be gruelling at times, but the experiences have been deeply gratifying and unforgettable.

Known for bold landscape, adventure travel and wildlife imagery, Jason’s lifelong addiction with exceptional stills has translated into editorial work for Overland Magazine, Wanderlust, Last Frontier Magazine, Road Trip Magazine, Adventure Bike Rider and many more publications in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France. We are field-editors for Expedition Portal and editorial contributors for Overland Journal.

Having grown substantially as a commercial photographer and freelance writer over the last decade, together, we have forged valued relationships with an array of clients such as Big Agnes, Helly Hansen, Hilleberg, Lowepro, MSR, Rab and Therm-a-Rest. Commissions awarded from companies include Hydro Flask, Schuberth Helmets and Sea to Summit. Our latest partners span Dometic, Frontrunner Outfitters, ICON Vehicle Dynamics, iKamper, RSi Smartcanopy and Yokohama Tires to name a few.

Jason’s clients vary from travel operators, overland product manufacturers, motorcycle touring companies to stock footage libraries. Further, his feature movies have been showcased at film festivals on both sides of the pond while Jason presents his work at events such as the Adventure Travel Film Festival UK and Australia, Overland ExPo West and East and Horizons Unlimited.

As our story continues to unfurl in colourful dispatches, we hope you’ll join us on our journey—it’s one that thrives on the true essence of the outdoors. It embraces nature and natural spaces, resonance and reach. Being on the road for long stretches is life changing as much as life-affirming. Jacqueline Cochran summed it up when she said that adventure, after all, is a state of mind – and spirit.
